ASDA becomes the first supermarket to offer COVID vaccine

ASDA is set to become the first supermarket in the UK to offer in-store coronavirus vaccines. It will offer 250 jabs a day, seven days a week. But which Asda stores are offering the jab?

Asda has been chosen by NHS England to operate a coronavirus vaccination centre. The vaccination centre will appear in one of its in-store pharmacies in Birmingham and vaccines will be administered by qualified Asda staff. The George clothing section in the store will be transformed into a vaccination centre and will operate Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

oger Burnley, Asda CEO and President, said: “We are incredibly proud to provide this service and are keen to do all we can to help the NHS and Government accelerate the rollout of the vaccination programme."

Asda has been approved to offer the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine - the most difficult to store of the three vaccines currently approved in the UK. Also the first vaccine to be approved for use.
